What are the different types of plastering?
that provides a decorative finish to walls and ceilings.
– floating: a technique for applying a backing plaster or undercoat plaster to smooth out uneven walls and fill in holes.
– direct bond plasterboard: usually used on new buildings or extensions but can also be used on damaged walls such as fireplaces. Dabs of plasterboard adhesive are applied to a wall on to which plasterboard is then put. When dry this method has an extremely strong bond to the wall.
– plasterboarding mechanical fix: plasterboard fixed to metal or timber stud work with screws. Damaged ceilings may be overboarded with new plasterboard and fixed through the existing ceiling into the ceiling joists.
